On Wednesday 29th April, our school proudly hosted a vibrant Multicultural Event, bringing together students, staff, and families in a celebration of diversity, inclusion, and unity. The event formed part of the College Festival activities and highlighted the many cultures that make up our school community.
This initiative was widely encouraged and strongly supported by the Office of the Head of College Network, Dr Roberta Argento, whose commitment to promoting inclusion and collaboration across the college was greatly appreciated.
Student councils from the eight primary schools forming part of the college, together with students from the college middle school and the Helen Keller Resource Centre, were invited to participate in this special occasion. Their presence made the event an excellent opportunity for students from across the college to meet, collaborate, and celebrate diversity together.
The main activity of the day was an engaging Passport Activity. Students visited different stands, each representing some of the main countries from which many members of our school community originate. These included Serbia, Arab countries, Malta, Spain, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Philippines, Italy, and India. At each stand, students learned about traditions, languages, food, landmarks, and cultural customs, collecting stamps on their passports as they moved from one country to another.
Another meaningful part of the event involved students identifying their own nationalities and placing pins on a large world map specially created for the day. This visual display beautifully showed the wide range of backgrounds represented within our college community and reminded everyone of the richness that diversity brings to our schools.
The event concluded with a closing circle, where everyone gathered together to reflect on the day’s activities. Leah Vella read an important message about unity, respect, and inclusion, while deputy head Ms Erica Cezek summed up the day and explained the vision behind organising such an event. To end the celebration on a high note, all students enthusiastically shouted, “Different Countries, One College!”
The Multicultural Event was both enjoyable and educational, reminding us that although we come from different places and cultures, we are united as one community.
