FRENCH CULTURE AND TRADITION AT ST THERESA COLLEGE MRIEHEL

La Galette des Rois

At St Theresa College, Senior School, students and teachers warmly embraced French culture through a Galette des Rois celebration organised after the Christmas holidays. The activity brought together students from Year 11.2 in a joyful atmosphere filled with tradition and delicious food.

During the celebration, galettes des rois — the traditional gâteaux enjoyed every January to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany — were brought to school and shared among the students. Students tasted the pastry and searched for the hidden fève, the small lucky charm hidden inside the cake.

In keeping with French custom, the students who discovered the fève in their slice were crowned Kings. Congratulations went to Ian Camilleri and Miguel Buhagiar from Year 11.2, who proudly wore their crowns. The moment created great enthusiasm among students and added a fun cultural dimension to the school day.

Celebrations such as these help bring language learning to life by allowing students to explore customs, gastronomy, and cultural practices in an interactive way.
